A semi-truck loaded with strawberries caught fire on eastbound Interstate 80 near Eureka Road in Roseville Thursday afternoon, causing major traffic delays.
Fire crews and California Highway Patrol responded to the blaze just before 2:45 p.m., finding the trailer fully engulfed in flames and shutting down several lanes and the Eureka Road onramp.
Only the trailer and its cargo of strawberries were damaged, with no injuries reported to drivers or emergency personnel.
Spectacular images showed hundreds of burned strawberries spilled across the roadway as firefighters tackled the flames.
By 3:30 p.m., the fire was out, but crews remained to deal with the debris and restore traffic flow.
Motorists experienced significant delays as cleanup continued into the evening.

Two Placer County Sheriff's deputies were hurt Sunday evening while rushing to an attempted rape call at Dry Creek Park in Roseville.
En route with emergency lights and sirens, their patrol car collided with a civilian vehicle at Baseline Road and Walerga Road.
Both one deputy and the other driver suffered minor injuries and received medical care, while the second deputy was unharmed.
The Roseville Police Department is investigating the crash’s circumstances.
Despite the accident, deputies apprehended 27-year-old Sergiy Fedchyk of Sacramento, the alleged suspect.
